I can't really understand what people get from 'social vandalism', be it online or IRL. It's not limited to an age group or any other demographic I can identify. You are right that trolls will be with us forever, but the internet is too extensive for it to be ruined. It's a nasty surprise however when someone you know IRL turns on you via electronic means. It's not that nice face to face either, but it is less sneaky. I've never be able to get excited about social networking services myself.
